Somewhere quiet to come back to

A lakefront house in the Pocono Mountains. Four bedrooms, a cedar sauna, a hot tub and a listening room. Come for the weekend, or bring your laptop and stay the week.

Made for group time and easy downtime.

Moara is a lakefront house on a private lake in the Poconos, built for the two kinds of stay people actually want here: a weekend with friends or family, and a quiet stretch of weekdays with a laptop. Four bedrooms and a loft, a cedar sauna, a hot tub, a fireplace, a listening room built around a record player, a proper coffee bar, and a kayak and pedal boat of our own down at the water.

We furnished it the way we would want to find it: warm wood, deep green, nothing fussy. The whole main floor is one open room, so ten people can be together without anyone feeling crowded — and so one person can work at the table on a Tuesday with the doors open.

See the rooms
The deck, a table set for dinner beside the grill, with the lake and the trees just beyond the railing
The living room from the far side, a leather sectional and a chess set on the round table under tall windows
The kitchen, deep green cabinets and glass-front uppers around a stone counter, range and dishwasher
The lake and the forested valley from above at dusk, with ridgelines on the horizon

Water, ridgeline, and nothing asking for your attention.

Ninety minutes from the city. Two hours from Philadelphia.

The community lake at sunset, fountains playing and the sand beach along one shore

The community lake

The beach, pool and courts belong to the association and run on its own seasonal passes, which we cannot promise. Our kayak and pedal boat are always yours.

Good to know

Plainly stated, so nothing surprises you.

The gate

The house sits inside a private gated community. After you book we ask for guest names and car details for the community office, at least four days before arrival. It takes two minutes.

The lake and the boats

Our kayak and pedal boat come with the house, with paddles and life jackets. The lakefront is unfenced and there is no lifeguard, so children need watching outdoors. The pool, beach and courts are run by the association on its own limited passes.

House standards

Quiet weekends, not parties. No events of any kind, including bachelor, bachelorette and birthday parties. Quiet hours 11 pm to 7 am, no smoking anywhere, and every guest is registered at the gate. Stays run up to eight nights.

Dogs

Small dogs under 25 lbs are welcome, with a pet fee. They are not allowed in the bedrooms or on the beds. Tell us before you book so we can handle the community's pet paperwork.

The house is yours, from Friday or from Monday.
